Why we built a Financial Health Score

May 29, 2026 • product · scoring

Most money tools either drown you in charts or boil everything down to a single number with no explanation. We wanted something in between: a clear signal you can act on, backed by math you can actually inspect.

What the score is

The Financial Health Score is a single, educational metric that summarizes a few fundamentals of your finances — things like your cash buffer, how your spending compares to your income, and your debt levels. It is meant to give you a quick sense of where you stand and what to focus on next.

What the score is not

  • It is not a credit score, and it is not produced by a credit bureau.
  • It does not affect your credit.
  • It is not financial advice. It is a starting point for better decisions.

How it works under the hood

All of the core math runs deterministically inside the app. We do not ask an AI model to invent your numbers. Where AI helps is in explaining changes in plain language — never in calculating the figures themselves.

That separation is intentional: the numbers should be auditable and consistent, while the explanations should be readable and human.

What's next

We will keep sharing how the score is built, how budgeting and goals fit in, and the trade-offs we make along the way. Thanks for following along.
